Registrations and Sponsorships Open for 4K 4Charity Fun Run PDX
Third annual run and walk event devotes proceeds to nonprofit organizations supporting increased diversity and inclusion in education
Portland, Ore. – August 21, 2017 – AWS Elemental, an Amazon Web Services company, announced the 4K 4Charity Fun Run in Portland to take place Thursday, October 12 at 3:00 p.m. Registration and sponsorship opportunities are now available at 4K4Charity.com, with all proceeds to benefit local Portland nonprofit organizations that are addressing increased diversity and inclusion in education.
The 4km (2.49 mile) run and walk invites all individuals and businesses to celebrate the region’s growing technology industry while promoting diversity and inclusion, professional networking and above all, community giving. One hundred percent of individual registration contributions go directly to nonprofit partners, with proceeds from this year’s event to be donated to Rosemary Anderson High School (RAHS) and KairosPDX.
RAHS, an Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) community-based alternative high school, provides open-door, year round access to students who have either been expelled or dropped out of public high school and who may be homeless. RAHS has been a nonprofit partner of the 4K 4Charity Fun Run PDX since the 2015 inaugural event; to date, 4K 4Charity has contributed more than $110,000 toward the organization’s efforts to support the growth and development of students traditionally underrepresented in technology programs and professional careers.
KairosPDX is an early learning network focused on providing direct and indirect, culturally competent consulting and services to current in-home childcare providers and families, friends and neighbors who serve underrepresented youth, including low-income youth and youth of color. This is the first time Portland-based KairosPDX has been a nonprofit beneficiary of the 4K 4Charity Fun Run.
Joining Platinum sponsor AWS Elemental are New Relic, Prosper Portland, the Portland State University School of Business, eROI, Leyard and Planar, A Leyard Company, Portland Trail Blazers, and Voyager Capital. Sponsorship opportunities are available through the August 25 deadline for sponsor commitments, and inquiries may be directed to Kate Incerto at firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Advancements in diversity and inclusion make Portland a better place to live and work and a more attractive place to do business,” said Sam Blackman, co-founder and CEO of AWS Elemental. “We’re profoundly grateful to our sponsors, our nonprofit partners and the Portland business community for helping grow the 4K 4Charity Fun Run and the funds it raises for this vital cause. We hope to see even more of you on the course this year.”
The 4K 4Charity Fun Run PDX 2017 will start and finish under the Burnside Bridge in Tom McCall Waterfront Park, following the Willamette River in a single 4km loop. After completing the course, participants are invited to join the after-party and enjoy local food and drinks. The 2016 event hosted nearly 1,000 participants from 103 companies.
