4K 4Charity Fun Run Series returns to Portland in support of diversity and giving back
Portland, Ore. – August 9, 2016 – Elemental Technologies, the leading supplier of software-defined video solutions, today announced that the second annual 4K 4Charity Fun Run in Portland, Oregon will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 3:00 pm. This 4km (2.49-mile) run and walk event celebrates the achievements of the growing technology industry in the region while promoting diversity, networking and most importantly, giving back to the community. Proceeds from the 4K 4Charity Fun Run in PDX 2016 will be donated to Rosemary Anderson High School (RAHS).
Registration is now open at 4K4Charity.com. Sponsors of this year’s event include platinum sponsors New Relic, Puppet, Simple and Vacasa, silver sponsors the Portland Development Commission (PDC) and Unosquare, medal sponsor JLL, and kilometer sponsors Ernst & Young and eROI. Additional supporters include association partner the Technology Association of Oregon (TAO), and media partners the Portland Business Journal and Silicon Florist. Sponsorship packages are still available and inquiries may be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
RAHS, an Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) community-based alternative high school, provides open-door, year round access to students who have either been expelled or dropped out of public high school and who may be homeless. Last year, the inaugural 4K 4Charity Fun Run in PDX raised more than $55,000 that helped accelerate the RAHS Technological Literacy & Applied Computer Skill Education initiative.
The 4K 4Charity Fun Run in PDX 2016 supports the growth and development of students traditionally underrepresented in technology programs and professional careers. Through a multiyear partnership with designated beneficiary, RAHS, the event aims to create a more diverse and inclusive workforce in the Portland community.
“PDC has a deep commitment to increasing economic growth and opportunity in all parts of Portland’s economy. Tech is the fastest growing sector of our economy and one of the best paying ones as well. Diversity and inclusion efforts in this industry are essential for Portland’s economic success,” said Jared Wiener, economic development manager at the PDC. “We’re pleased to join local tech leaders to partner on an event that combines fun and fitness to make a real difference to the community.”
The 4K 4Charity Fun Run in PDX 2016 will begin at 3:00 pm on October 12 at the Naito Legacy Fountain in Waterfront Park and will follow a fast, flat course along the Willamette River. After completing the course, participants are invited to celebrate the event over snacks, beverages, music and camaraderie at an after-party located at the finish line.
