Saturday, September 16 | 16:50 - 17:50 | Learn More

From surpassing the physical experience of attending a live event, to bringing brand experiences to life, VR is transforming video experiences for operators, broadcaster and brand alike. But will VR really replace TV, social networks, games consoles and even smartphones as predicted by some? Join industry experts from OSN, Nokia OZO and Accedo as they discuss the reality behind virtual reality and look beyond traditional video experiences.

The company will demonstrate a variety of innovative workflows and technologies on stand 5.C80:

High Dynamic Range

Broadcast of HDR 10 and HLG channels using any combination of HLG, HDR 10 and SDR source content with AWS Elemental Live and AWS Elemental Server, enabling broadcasters to quickly and cost-effectively bring HDR channels to market with a mix of existing SDR and HDR content. This demonstration will also feature creation of vibrant Dolby Vision deliverables from files or live streams.

Cloud DVR

A simple and flexible software-based solution for enabling end-to-end cloud DVR capabilities from video headend to player, deploying AWS Elemental Live and AWS Elemental Delta integrated with Amazon S3 and Amazon CloudFront content delivery network (CDN).

Live Channel Playout

A software-based approach to instantly create linear 24/7 or event-based broadcast channels that reduces video workflow complexity, improves resiliency and lowers operational costs, with seamless switching between live and file based sources and support for live cloud playout using Amazon S3.

CMAF for OTT Distribution

Support for streaming to Apple devices lets users realize video quality improvements, compression efficiency gains, and ecosystem convergence with HEVC migration, fragmented MP4 (fMP4) and the Common Media Application Format.

Amazon EC2 Spot and Thinkbox Deadline 10

With a few clicks, users can easily launch a powerful render farm using AWS instances with GPU or CPU processing power and Thinkbox’s leading render management software. Flexible infrastructure and usage-based licensing let users maximize rendering resources and software investments.

Cloud-based Ingest Services

AWS Elemental will showcase a range of integrations with cloud-based solutions for ingest, including AVC and HEVC codecs using RTMP and RTP with forward error correction as well as integrations designed to promote J2K TR-01 contribution, allowing standard contribution sources to be ingested into cloud services.

Virtual Reality

Experience 360-degree virtual reality with ad insertion in a live 4K feed. The ability to dynamically insert advertising in a real-time VR stream allows video operators to monetize live VR events and to personalize ad content to a viewer's preferences.

Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

A new approach to frame-accurate live-to-video-on-demand (VOD) asset creation uses machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) powered by Amazon Rekognition to automatically search and analyze content libraries for user-supplied keywords and produce VOD clips based on the results.
